This tree pathology research work and the results of the funds provided will be applied to the forest trees everywhere well beyond the Pacific Northwest forests.
OUR MISSIONThe Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund is a 501(c)(3) scientific and educational organization dedicated to the controlling and to the eventual elimination of some of the diseases that adversely affects the health of our shade trees and the trees of our forest lands, and to reestablish forests with trees that are free from many of the severely harmful diseases.OUR PLANWith the help of its members, the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund will provide grants to college and university tree pathology research projects to research tree diseases and find lasting cures. In addition, we will provide research funds to other tree pathology research projects provided that the results of the research is shared with the public and is used to advance the public good and welfare of our public forest lands. Beginning in early 2008, Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund members have joined together to enjoy, celebrate, conserve, and restore the health, beauty and sustainability of our nation's forests. We are developing public awareness programs to educate the general public about the diseases and insect problems of our forests. The Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund promotes sound forestry management, timber growth, disease and insect control, environmental education, and wise use of our nation's renewable forest resources. In addition the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund will fund the purchase and planting of trees on public lands. These tree planting projects, made possible by Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund funding, will require a sound management plan that will ensure the forests will be cared for to provide quality natural resources for future generations. Educational and demonstration forests will be established to help teach school children and private landowners how to recognize and control tree diseases and insect problems, and to be good stewards of our public and private forest lands. We will acquire forest lands. These forest lands will be used for outdoor research facilities, pathology research, and forest tree disease public awareness programs. These forest lands may be acquired as logged off properties, and we will replant the trees and restore the forests. Or the forest lands may be well forested, complete with creeks, wetlands, marshes, and swamps. These forest lands will always remain with our organization. Additionally, a forestry research center complete with pathology research laboratories, greenhouses, tree nurseries, dormitories, cafeterias, support buildings and classrooms will be built on one of these forest lands. A significate portion of our funding base will depend upon donation, grants, gifts, and fund raising. However, we will work to develop and implement income producing activities such as selling trees from our forestry nursery, income producing buildings such as a large activity and meeting hall, and bed and breakfast facilities. WE NEED YOUR HELPTrees are an important renewable resource of our Earth. If you appreciate the natural beauty of trees and of our forests, and the warmth, strength, and durability of wood, you can help us to protect our shade trees and to establish healthy forests for future generation's natural resource needs. Support us! Join the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund. Your contributions to the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund may be tax-deductible, and are always welcome. |
