Help us stomp out tree diseases!

Welcome to the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund.
Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund is a scientic and educational non-profit corporation based in Washington State. Our primary goal is to provide funding for critical research into the causes, control, prevention, and the eventual elimination of some of the diseases that affect the health of the trees of our Nation's forest lands. In addition, the forestry research fund will work diligently to find safe natural means to effectively control the many insects that harm the trees of our forests.

This tree pathology research work and the results of the funds provided will be applied to the forest trees, shade trees, and fruit and nut crop trees, everywhere well beyond the Pacific Northwest.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund is to fund tree pathology research to control and to eradicate tree diseases and insects that adversely effects the health of our forest trees, shade trees and crop trees.

OUR PLAN

The Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund will provide grants to college and university tree pathology research projects to research tree diseases and find lasting cures. We will strive to eradicate completely some of the most devastating diseases. In addition, we will provide research funds to other tree pathology research projects provided that the results of the research is shared with the public and is used to advance the public good and welfare of our trees and public forest lands.

We are developing public awareness programs to educate the general public about the diseases and insect problems of our forests. The Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund promotes sound forestry management, timber growth, disease and insect control, environmental education, and wise use of our nation's renewable forest resources.
Beginning in 2008, Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund members have joined together to learn about trees and their tree diseases, enjoy our forests, conserve, plant trees, and help to restore the health, beauty and sustainability of our nation's trees.
In addition the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund will produce the tree seedlings, or fund their purchase, for the planting of timber trees on public forest lands. These tree planting projects, made possible by Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund funding, will require a sound management plan that will ensure the forests will be cared for to provide quality natural timber resources for future generations.
Educational and demonstration forests will be established to help teach school children, interested persons and organizations, tree nursery personal, fruit and nut tree owners, timber land owners, Christmas tree growers, and private landowners how to recognize and control tree diseases and insect problems, and to be good stewards of our public and private forest lands.

We will acquire forest lands. These forest lands will be used for outdoor research facilities, pathology research, and forest tree disease public awareness programs. These forest lands may be acquired as logged off properties, and we will replant the trees and restore the forests.
Or the forest lands may be well forested, complete with creeks, wetlands, marshes, and swamps. Many of these forest lands will always remain with our organization.

Additionally, a forestry research center complete with pathology research laboratories, classrooms, greenhouses, tree nurseries, offices, dormitories, cafeterias, and support buildings will be built on one of these forest lands.

A significate portion of our funding base will depend upon donations, grants, gifts, and our fund raising activities. However, we will also work to develop and implement income producing activities such as selling trees from our forestry nursery, building and operating income producing buildings such as a large activity and meeting hall that may be rented for customer activies, and a distinctive destination bed and breakfast facilities.

WE MUST STAMP OUT TREE DISEASES

Each year millions of dollars worth of valuable timber and other tree resources are lost because of tree diseases and insect damages. It is critical that effective safe means of controlling and eliminating many of the tree diseases must found and applied. In addition, we must find effective means of controlling harmful insects. Beside the commercial timber tree losses, private tinber land owners, christmas tree growers, fruit and nut tree growers, tree nursuries, and homeowners lose a significant number of heathy trees each year because of tree diseases and insect activity. This means money lost and a useful and needed resource not available for use.
